As a children's holiday portrait photographer, my goal for each session is to capture natural photos of children rather than stiff and posed images. Because I love to capture a child's free spirited and inquisitive nature, I always try to create holiday mini sessions that get the children involved in an activity. In the past, I have held interactive sessions including a campfire session, a snowman building session, and a boating session and they were all tons of fun for the kids and stress free for the parents.
This year’s beach session might be my favorite mini session yet. I have been toying with the idea of a beach Santa session for a few years, but I couldn’t quite figure out how to approach it. However, that all changed on a winter’s day when I walked into the Long Beach Post Office and saw a painting on the wall that inspired me. Those of you who live in town are familiar with the painting, but it depicts the local beach in the 1920’s with throngs of people bathing on the beach. I admired the style of the era, in particular, the swimsuits and I envisioned Santa in a similar style red striped swimsuit playing with the kids in the sand. Thus, this year’s beach holiday session was born. Read More
My baby girl turns four on Saturday and I can hardly believe it. These last few years have gone by so quickly and this year has been the most fun yet. Like most three year old girls, this has been the year of the princess and my little one has princess fever. Miss V goes through several wardrobe changes a day all of which include shoes, tiara and matching accessories. She wears her dresses to school, on Trader Joe runs, to bed and even over her bathing suit. She forces daddy to play princess with her daily during which time she either loses a shoe, needs a kiss from a prince, is swimming under the water to save a prince, or marries the prince. Read More
I have been busy over the last few weeks photographing children and families outdoors in this gorgeous New York Fall weather. I am having so much fun meeting new families and catching up with clients from last year. The weather has been absolutely perfect!
I have finally had a few moments to put together my November mini session schedule. This year’s indoor set is a beautiful and classic rustic set. The rustic session is designed to resemble a log cabin and is decorated with vintage and rustic accents. I have added stands of globe lights to give the set a unique look. Children will also get to cuddle up beneath a holiday blanket and sip on some hot cocoa in the “cabin.” Read More
Although I love photographing newborns, six month sitter sessions are quickly growing to become my favorite type of session. Babies are so adorable at that age and their true personalities really starts to shine through, which means it is a great time time to update your photos of your little one.
When mom contacted me earlier in the Summer, she said she wanted to photograph her son outdoors on the beach for his six month session. As you all know, I prefer to shoot outdoors whenever the weather allows me to do so. Read More
I met and photographed so many great families on the beach this Summer. What I love the most about sunset photo sessions on the each is the fact that every single session is unique. The sunsets are different each night and depending on the weather and the time of year, the colors fo the sky will take on different hues. The shoreline is constantly changing. Some days it is replete with shells, other days seaweed, and even starfish. Living on the beach has given me such a new appreciation for nature and being a photographer has made me more conscious of weather patterns. Read More
