The Best Places to Celebrate After a Proposal in St. Augustine
When I’m helping plan a proposal in St. Augustine, my role usually goes beyond just the moment itself. We map out the timing, the location, how it all unfolds… and almost every time, I get asked the same question right after: “Where should we go to dinner after?”
This question makes sense. You don’t want to just pick just any restaurant. You want somewhere that feels like a continuation of the moment..somewhere you can actually sit, take it all in, and celebrate….someplace special.
If you’re still in the planning stage and need location ideas, I’ve shared more about the best locations in St. Augustine here.
For a romantic, quiet dinner (where you can actually soak it in)
If you want that just-engaged, still-processing-it-all kind of dinner… these are the places.
Collage Restaurant
This is one of the most loved romantic spots in St. Augustine for a reason. It feels tucked away, quiet, and intentional. The kind of place where you can sit across from each other and replay the moment over and over again.
Old City House Inn and Restaurant
A cozy courtyard, soft lighting, and a slower pace. This one feels like a hidden gem and is perfect if you want something meaningful without a big crowd.
Cordova Coastal Chophouse & Bar
Elegant but not over-the-top. Think candlelight, wine, and a space that feels like a true “celebration dinner.”
Eleven South Bistro (Jacksonville Beach)
If you’re open to a short drive, this is one of the most consistently loved spots for a quiet, elevated dinner. It has that intimate, polished feel without being stuffy, which makes it a really beautiful way to end the night.
Argyle Restaurant
A newer favorite in St. Augustine with a refined but relaxed feel. It’s a great option if you want something elevated without it feeling too formal, especially if you’re looking for a more modern atmosphere.
Catch 27
A smaller, more intimate spot in the heart of St. Augustine with a focus on fresh, local seafood. It’s a great option if you want something that feels relaxed and personal while still being a really special place to sit and celebrate.
For a waterfront celebration (sunset + champagne energy)
If your proposal happened near the water, this is the perfect way to keep that feeling going. A lot of the couples I work with choose waterfront locations like these, especially when we’re planning sunrise proposals. Here is some more info here:
Cap’s on the Water
This is the sunset dinner spot. String lights, Spanish moss, water views—it feels like a scene from a movie.
The Reef
Right on the ocean, with uninterrupted views. If you time it right, you’ll go from “we just got engaged” to watching the sky change colors together.
Kingfish Grill
Overlooking the marina, this spot has beautiful sunset views and a more relaxed atmosphere than the downtown restaurants. It’s a great option if you want something scenic without the crowds.
Palm Valley Fish Camp (Ponte Vedra Beach)
If you’re open to a short drive, this is one of the most beautiful waterfront spots in the area. The marsh views at sunset are incredible, and it has that perfect balance of relaxed coastal and elevated dining.
For something a little more lively and fun
If you want to celebrate with energy, toast a lot, and maybe text everyone you know right after…
Sangrias Wine and Tapas Bar
Tapas, wine, live music, and a balcony over St. George Street. It’s fun, upbeat, and perfect if you want the night to feel like a celebration.
Columbia Restaurant
A classic. Spanish food, tableside sangria, and a lively atmosphere that feels like an occasion.
The Forgotten Tonic
A cozy, tucked-away spot with great food and really well-crafted cocktails. It has a slightly more energetic feel than a traditional dinner spot, but still feels intimate enough to sit, talk, and take in the moment.
Start with a drink before (or after) dinner
Sometimes the best move is to slow it down before heading into dinner.
Tini Martini Bar
A bayfront view, a cocktail in hand, and a moment to just sit together and let it all sink in.
San Sebastian Winery Rooftop Bar
Casual, beautiful, and perfect for watching the sunset with a glass of wine before dinner.
A quick tip (that makes a big difference)
If you can, make a reservation ahead of time and let them know it’s a proposal dinner. A lot of these places will do something small to make it feel even more special and after everything that just happened, those little touches matter.
one more thing…
The night moves fast. You go from being in the moment overwhelmed by emotions, to a photoshoot, to calling family, and everything can feel like a blur. Taking the time to choose the right place to celebrate can help you to slow things don just enough that you can savor ad joy this special moment.
If you’re planning a proposal in St. Augustine and want help mapping out the timing, location, and what happens after—you don’t have to figure it out alone. It’s one of my favorite things to help with.
