When Should You Take Maternity Photos? A Florida Maternity Photographer’s Guide

I absolutely love maternity sessions and truly believe they are one of the most meaningful seasons to document. Pregnancy can feel long in the moment, but it passes so quickly, and before you know it, that stage of life becomes a blur. Whether you are expecting your first baby or your last, maternity photos are such a beautiful way to preserve this fleeting chapter in your family’s story.

When Should You Take Maternity Photos?

One of the most common questions expecting mothers ask is when to schedule maternity photos. In most cases, the ideal time for a maternity session is between 28 and 32 weeks, when your bump is beautifully visible but you are still feeling relatively comfortable and mobile. For many women, this is the stage where early pregnancy sickness has passed and energy levels are a little higher before the final weeks of pregnancy begin to feel more physically exhausting. Planning ahead for your maternity session helps ensure we choose a date that falls within this ideal window. I know you may not fully realize it now, but years from today, you will miss that bump and the anticipation of this season. These photographs become tangible reminders of a time that changes everything, not only for you, but for your children one day as well.

You Deserve to Feel Beautiful in Your Maternity Photos

The pregnancy glow is not a myth. I know…I know.. sometimes you don’t feel your best when you are pregnant, but expecting mamas truly are stunning. Every pregnant woman deserves a day of pampering for a photo session so she can feel how amazing, beautiful and powerful she is. I always felt uncomfortable when I was pregnant and I was not one of those women who loved being pregnant, but when I look back at my maternity photos, I do recognize that unique glow.

Include Your Partner and Children in Your Maternity Session

I capture solo maternity photos of you, but I also want to document and preserve this stage of your family’s life. Let’s capture the older sibling and how excited he or she is about the new bundle of joy. Let’s capture the bond and love that you and your husband feel for each other and the excitement about this ew stage in life together. If you have a fur baby that is special to you, you can bring that pet along too. I always encourage my clients to bring along all family members to the session. After all, the more the merrier. Having a keepsake for your child to remember, ber this special time is one that you do not want to miss out on.

Why Maternity Photos Become More Meaningful Over Time

I promise you, there will come a time that you forget all about being pregnant and you will miss that time in your life. These photos will transport you right back to that special time. It is also important to show your children photos of that time they spent in your womb. It is something they will cherish for an eternity.
