Pink Floral Themed First Birthday Session

I photographed this beautiful little girl for her holiday photos this year. When her mom contacted me to schedule a first birthday portrait session, I was elated to be able to work with this sweet family again.

When planning a set, I always ask clients about themes and color preferences. My client said she was going with a pink floral theme for the birthday party, so I designed this set with that in mind. My goal is to keep the set clean and uncluttered, but to always coordinate with any vision my clients might have. Whenever I am able to use florals, I am giddy. They just bring so much visual interest to images and I love the way the look paired with the muted pink handmade balloon arch that I used for this particular birthday session.

This little girl was happy as could be during the session and she hammed it up for the camera. We started with some portraits in a pretty lace outfit that mom brought along. I used my new wicker children’s peacock chair, which is becoming my favorite prop for milestone sessions. We were able to sneak in an outfit change with a few captures of her in a pink and crochet romper and we even had time for a sibling shot. Big brother was super cooperative and is such a sweetie.

When it was time for the cake smash pictures, the birthday girl changed into a pale pink romper from my client wardrobe. I just love the chiffon skirt detail and glitter one design. The romper was perfect for this particular session. My client brought along a beautiful pale pink rosette cake form one of my favorite bakeries in Levittown, Dortoni. The birthday girl was hesitant at first, but eventually smashed that cake right up and dove in for some canoli filled cake.
