A Rainy Wedding Day | An Intimate Park Vow Ceremony — Family and Newborn Photography Long Beach, NY |Teresa Geraghty Photography

Although I am a family and newborn photographer, I am well versed in photographing couples for not only proposals, but also intimate wedding ceremonies. I don’t photograph large elaborate weddings, but focus more on smaller intimate gatherings. I absolutely love being able to document this special moment for couples. Often times, these weddings move me to tears because the love the couples have for one another is so evident. I think that is the benefit of doing small scale weddings. Everyone in attendance really can share in the happy emotions of the day.

When this particular bride contacted me about her wedding, I know the wedding ceremony would be special. Due to COVID, she had to reschedule her April 2020 wedding. Although she would be having a big wedding celebration in the Fall, she wanted to exchange her vows in a unique way and the day on which she would recite those vows was the exact day one year ago she was supposed to be married. Originally, the ceremony was supposed to be on the beach, but due to permit issues, she opted for a gazebo in a local park and it was simply perfect.

The weather report for the day of the wedding called for rain and the bride did not let the weather ruin her day at all. She brought along some pretty umbrellas and weathered the storm with a smile on her face.

There was a beautiful and small rocky beach near the gazebo and we used that location for some of the photos. We started off with some family portraits of her, the groom and their children. Next, we captured some lovely couples portraits and a few images with the 13 guests who were in attendance at the ceremony.

Once the officiant arrived, there was a short and very meaningful ceremony during which time they exchanged their vows in front of their children and closest family members. It was a moving ceremony.

I can understand now why they say that rain on a wedding day brings good luck. It is evident that this couple will have a lifetime of love and happiness ahead of them.
