Expecting Mamas…Book that Maternity Session

Yes, that is right. I am talking to all of you gorgeous expecting moms out there. So many women choose to skip maternity photos and it makes me so sad. I know that some women don’t feel their best during pregnancy, or they feel that the photos will be awkward, but I encourage you to take the photos. First of all, no one is more beautiful than a pregnant woman. It sounds like a cliche, but women are simply radiant when they are pregnant. The pregnancy glow is not a matter of fiction. I have seen it first hand with each and every one of my gorgeous clients.

Secondly, I am not encouraging you to book a maternity session as a photographer; I am saying it as a mother with school aged children. I am saying this from the perspective of a woman who had two very challenging pregnancies…take the photos whether you feel you “need” them or not because I can guarantee you that you will wish you had them years from now. I am here to remind you that these photos are really not for you to appreciate and value today. The images are for five, ten, twenty years from now when you are past your child rearing days. You will want to reflect and look back at the beautiful journey of motherhood and it all starts with your pregnancy. Having maternity photos captured will help you to do just that.

My recent client knew how important it was to capture this moment and she scheduled a session with me right here in my private Long Beach studio. She had a vision for her maternity session that involved the trending style in portraiture of jeans, the sports bra and the open white button down shirt. There is something so causal, crisp and light hearted about this look and it just lends itself to pregnancy photos so well. Plus, this elevated causal look works beautifully in my private photo studio.

Although I love a good outdoor golden hour session, I am really feeling the vibes of my studio sessions lately. I love all of the natural textures and the bright crisp light that my studio provides. It also has a very relaxed and casual atmosphere that just lends itself so perfectly to lifestyle photography. It truly is the perfect location for photos ranging from maternity, newborn, birthday, branding and beyond.

My client and her husband were simply adorbs during their couples maternity photo session. They were super lovey and really connected. It truly was a joy to work with them. I love when couples have the ability to just laugh, be themselves and just cuddle up for some cozy and connected images. I really think their love for another truly shines through in these images.

If you are interested in a photo session, I suggest scheduling maternity portraits anywhere between 28-34 weeks of pregnancy. Contact me for more info. In the meantime, check out this sweet couple’s images.
