A Newborn Session in the Renovated Studio

The New & Improved Lifestyle Studio

Last year I decided to take a brief hiatus from offering newborn sessions in the studio. Instead, I focused solely on in home newborn sessions. I decided at the end of 2022 to refresh and remodel the studio space and star offering limited sessions in the studio in 2023. Many clients, who felt their homes did not have the general aesthetic they wanted for their photos requested studio sessions and so the studio is up and running again.

I am not going to lie….I am kind of in love with this studio space. It is such a gorgeous and relaxing space. I designed it to maximize my use of natural light, much like I would utilize in a home. I incorporated lots of textures such as jute rugs, tufted bedding, a rattan bed, pampas grass, green plants and other decor to give the studio a bohemian and beautiful look. My favorite piece is the rattan day bed I purchased from Anthropologie. It allows for those connected images in a bed, but in a much more causal and relaxed way. As always, I have wraps, swaddles and accessories available for the baby and I also have a client closet with dresses available on loan for moms. I will also style the rest of the family…all you will have to do is show up to the session.

Who is the Studio Newborn Session For?

For those who are looking for more of a polished look, the studio session is perfect. The session is photographed under controlled lighting conditions. You will be directed and posed to make the best use of natural light. The images captured here will be very bright and airy. Also, if you want posed images of your newborn in props, the studio might be your best option. I highly recommend an in home session for those clients who are looking for the most authentic and natural images. If you are looking for a session with all of those in between moments and one that is more unscripted, then the in home session would be better suited for you. I also think that the in home session is the least stressful for parents who also have toddler aged children, but it depends on the family.

Mother and Daughter Newborn Photos

This recent session was an absolute dream. Mom and baby girl are not only beautiful, but were such a pleasure to work with. The baby was three weeks old at the time of the session, but was born a preemie, so we were still able to do posed images. I am so glad we were able to do so because I just love the sweet images we captured of baby girl in my rattan baby bed and drift wood posing bowl. I also recently got in a ton of new swaddles and outfits in earth tones that I was excited to use during this session.

Mom selected one of my favorite dresses from the client closet, which is an ivory off the shoulder lace maxi dress made by Vici. She looked stunning in the dress and I just love the way it looked with the set. I choose the dresses for my client closet based on how they fit women and how they look photograph. I do so because I want my clients to feel confident and beautiful and we all know how important a good dress is. I truly want to alleviate the stress of my clients hunting for the perfect dress and have everything ready for them on the day of the session.

We took lots of breaks throughout the session so mom could feed the baby, which of course I captured. I also made sure to capture lots of snuggly mom and baby moments. Those are the images I love to capture the most because I want my clients to look at these images years from now and be reminded of exactly how it felt to have a newborn. Those are the images I know that they will treasure.
