Florida Keys 2019 | Long Island Storytelling Photographer

Like every other working mom, my life revolves around schedules and routines. Additonally, because of the nature of my business, I spend a lot of time attached to my computer and phone. I am fortunate enough to make my own schedule, but I do work from home and I often feel guilty that I am distracted by work and not able to focus all of my attention on my children. Part of the reason why I look forward to my annual family vacation is because it provides me with an opportunity to unplug, relax and simply enjoy time with my family.

Although I have been vacationing in Key West for many years, we only started traveling there with the children three years ago. Since then, it has become our annual family vacation destination. My daughters look forward to going there, even more than visiting Disney. This year, we began our adventure in our favorite spot, Key West. We love this location because of the beautiful weather and the opportunity it provides us with to sightsee, relax at the pool and dine at fantastic restaurants, including our favorite, Blue Heaven. Although we absolutely love it there, we like to explore other keys and sights in Florida. For example, last year we traveled to Marathon and we visited Islamorada in 2017.

This year, we decided that we wanted to explore the Gulf side of Florida and chose to visit Sanibel Island. I have heard about Sanibel for quite a few years, which is known for its peaceful waters, fabulous shelling, nature preserves and bike paths; it was the perfect destination for our active family.

I was not disappointed by our choice. Sanibel Island is absolutely breathtaking. We spent our days in the pool, at which my oldest daughter would give her little sister swimming lessons. We visited the beach and collected an abundance of shells. We were able to bike across the whole island safely using the bike paths that cover the perimeter of the island. At night, we barbecued at our hotel, watched the sunset, and spent the remainder of the evening by a fire watching admiring the full moon. To say that this vacation was relaxing would be an understatement. I can’t wait until our next family adventure in the Spring.

Here are a few images from our trip.
