A Boho First Birthday Session | Cake Smash Photography

I recently photographed this little cutie, who happens to share the same birthday as me.  I have photographed both her and her siblings before.  Baby's mom is super creative, so I love working with the family.  

Mom contacted me and wasn't sure if she wanted to schedule her daughter's first birthday session in the studio or outdoors. During the warmer months, I always encourage my clients to schedule their child's cake smash session outdoors. An outdoor session allows for more natural and organic images and no backdrop is more beautiful than that which Mother Nature can provide. Because mom had a boho themed session in mind, it made even more sense to choose an outdoor location for her daughter's first birthday photos.  

I was super excited to use my vintage high chair and lace tent for these photos.  They have been sitting in my storage closet for about a year and this was the perfect time to use them.  Although I typically don't use props, these were perfectly aligned with mom's vision for the birthday portraits. To give the session a more unique vintage vibe, mom handmade a lace bib for baby to use during the cake smash. 

Baby S was such a cutie and was thrilled when it was time to smash her cake. She dug into the cake and enjoyed every morsel of her stunning cake that was topped with an array of beautiful fresh roses.
