Senior Beach Photo Session | College Graduation Portrait Photography

Every milestone in life should be documented and graduating from college is a particularly important milestone. A college graduation is the official start of one’s journey through adulthood. Moreover, there is so much hard work that goes into college that it should be celebrated with pride. It is the perfect time to capture photos of this new and exciting chapter in life and a senior photo session can do just that.

My niece recently graduated from F.I.T.. She is the second of my nieces to graduate from college and although this milestone makes me feel old, it also makes me feel pride that I had the opportunity to watch her grow up into a delightful young woman. When my niece asked if I could snap some college graduation photos of her, I was thrilled to be able to do so.

I suggested a few locations, but my niece grew up on the beach and wanted her photos taken at sunset there. I was more than happy to shoot there because you can never go wrong with a golden hour on the beach. It was an absolutely gorgeous June evening on the night of her session. The weather was mild, the water was warm, and the sun was soft and golden in hue as it set on the horizon.

I didn’t want the rigid look of a cap and gown session, so we played around with the look for a bit for a more modern feel to the traditional cap and gown photos. I also wanted the images to have a certain degree of whimsy, as that is true to the personalty of my niece. Thankfully, my niece chose the most adorable floral print dress from Urban Outfitters to wear to the session. She could not have selected a more perfect dress for the occasion. Her mom made a beautiful jeweled 2022 tassel for the cap that also was the perfect finishing touch for the ensemble.

I just love the entire collection of images from this session. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter in life brings this young lady.
