Reasons to Consider a Newborn Session in Your Home

There are a multitude of reasons why I am passionate about documenting newborns and their families in their homes here on Long Island. I know that I have spoken about this topic before on the blog, but I wanted to take a moment to shed some light on this topic for those of you who are unsure about whether or not an in home session is for you.

Relaxed Vibe of the in Home Session

One of my favorite things about in home newborn sessions is that they have so much more of a relaxed vibe. Although my studio, is designed for lifestyle images, there is nothing quite like the comfort of your own home. Photographing you and your baby in your own home allows everyone in the family to feel at ease and your images will convey that cozy feeling. After all, your home is where your memories are made and where you feel most like yourself. For this reason, I find that in home newborn sessions always have a more intimate feel to them.

You can Keep Your Baby Cozy and Safe at Home

For many moms, the idea of taking a baby out of the home during those first few weeks can be daunting. So, why not stay at home and let me come to you? I know that there are still appointments and places you have to go in those weeks, but the safest place is almost always home. You can control who interacts with your baby and know exactly how clean the items are that you use.

No Time Constraints

For posed studio newborn sessions, time is of the essence. You need to schedule those sessions within the first 14 days of birth. This time constraint does not apply to in home sessions. This eliminates the stress of rushing to schedule that session. It can be scheduled whenever you are feeling well and ready. Lifestyle newborn images focus on connections and have a more natural feel to them. Your baby doesn’t necessarily have to be asleep. I do work to capture images of your baby alone and focus on those little details you don’t want to forget, but at a much more relaxed pace, and I follow the cues of your baby.

You can Still Have Propped Images Captured

With all of that being said, some clients want a few propped images. I bring along a prop of your choice and can capture propped images. If you do want these images taken, we will need to schedule you within those first 14 days.

Capture the Unique Vibe and Style of Your Family

Your home is a representation of your personality and style. There is no better backdrop for your first photos with your baby. Not only are you documenting your baby’s arrival, but you are also documenting this chapter in your family’s history. If you are anything like me, the style of your home changes throughout the years. It is nice to have photos that capture each unique phase of your home’s development.
