Extended Family Photoshoot | Reasons to Book Your Family Session

I don’t know about you, but time surely seems to be flying by these days. Maybe it’s because I’m a mom of two active girls, who seem to be growing at the speed of light, or perhaps it is because my own parents are getting older. Whatever it is, I can’t help but reflect on my own childhood and how important my grandparents, parents and siblings were to me. I loved spending time with them and I wish I had professional photos that documented my time with them.

I know life is busy, but I can’t encourage you enough to prioritize extended family portraits. Years from now, you will be so very grateful that you made a point to get everyone together for a large family session. It is more than worth the effort, and I guarantee you’ll love every minute of it.

Reasons to Schedule an Extended Family Photoshoot | Long Island Family Photographer

Get the Family Together

When is the last time you got the family together? I mean the whole family…siblings, parents, cousins and grandparents. I know it can be a bit tricky as everyone has hectic schedules, but if possible, use your extended family photoshoot as an opportunity for a family reunion. We can do it right here on Long Island at one of the beaches, a local park, preserve, or even a family member’s home.

Spend Quality Time with Your Loved Ones

Sure, we’ll spend some time posing to get everyone in, but multi generational family sessions are fun and sure to produce lots of memories and laughter. I’m here to make it as easy and natural as possible. Before you know it, we will have all the shots we need, and you can spend the rest of the time catching up. Family sessions offer a refreshing break and help block out quality time for the family, and you’ll get some incredible photos you’ll cherish forever while you’re at it.

Make Lasting Memories

Simply getting the family together is an opportunity to bond. You will all have time to reconnect in a way you haven’t in years. With this amount of people, there is bound to be an abundance of laughter and memories made. Later, when you look back at these photos, you can reminisce on the fun times you had during your session together and enjoy the memories. These moments are what make life so beautiful! Don’t miss them. The to-do’s and appointments can wait.

All-in-One Session

Because everyone is all together, this is also a great chance for each nuclear family to get some updated portraits. I can capture sibling portraits, cousin photos, photos of your children and I even make time for portraits of each couple. Prior to your session, you will complete a questionnaire that will help me structure your session so that I can get the shots you are hoping for. The session is unique to each family and their goals. You really get the most out of an extended family photoshoot with several combinations of family photos.

They are a Perfect Heirloom Gift

If you are like me, you are always scrambling to find the perfect gift for grandparents. Look no further. Skip the meaningless holiday gifts and gift your parents and each other a family photo session. You can also print the images for gifts down the road as well. Moreover, a photo session is the gift that keeps on giving. The memories and photos will last forever. I love looking at old photos as they always bring back fond memories. Just think about how much these photos will mean to your children when they are older. The beautiful mementos can be passed down over the years. Because you invested in professional photography, the quality of your images won’t fade over time.

Capture Milestones

It’s amazing how fast kids develop and change through the years. These photos will provide a lasting memory of this special phase in life. Grandparents love to have tangible memories of their grandchildren to hold on to. Pictures with your entire family are great way to encapsulate how family relationships grow and change from year to year. These photos are truly priceless.

Remind You of What’s Important

I know how important your family is to you and how strong the bond is. Scheduling family pictures gives you a moment to take it all in and appreciate the special relationships in your life. It’s a fun reminder to never take a minute together for granted. These conversations and memories help shape you as parents, and they help shape your kids, too. It’s incredible how much power is in an image. A photo can bring you back and remind you of the most important parts of your life—your family.
