Simply Timeless First Birthday Session | Cake Smash Photography

I absolutely love when I have the honor to photograph my former newborn clients for their first birthday portrait session. It is so wonderful to see how much the baby has grown over the course of the year and I just love to see how each she has developed a unique personality.  

When little Miss M and her mom first arrived to the studio, I could not believe how much she had changed since I last saw her in December for her holiday photos. Mom came to the studio prepared with the most adorable outfits for her little munchkin to wear during her first birthday session.  Because we couldn't narrow it down, we just went ahead and used all of the outfits.  

I love when clients choose classic wardrobe pieces for their children to wear for their first birthday photos. It helps me to capture those those classic portraits of baby for mom and dad to hang on their walls.  I was in love with the first dress mom chose; it was a Pippa & Julie dress, which happens to be one of my favorite brands for children's clothing.  Mom also brought along a gorgeous hand painted chair that was gifted to her daughter by grandma.  

After we were done capturing the first birthday photos, it was time to move on to the cake smash portion of the session.  The giant cupcake shaped cake, was absolutely gorgeous and looked delicious. Miss M was very hesitant about getting dirty, but eventually enjoyed a taste of her cake.  Luckily, she left plenty of leftovers for her older brothers to enjoy.  

It was so wonderful to be able to document this special day for Miss M and her family.  Here are a few of my favorites from the session.
