Classic Floral First Birthday Session | Garden City Cake Smash Photography

I love when my former clients return for milestone sessions.  It is such a pleasure to watch the children grow and it is an honor to be able to document that growth for their parents.  I photographed this little beauty in June for her six month sitter session and when I saw her again the other day, I was amazed at how much she had grown in these last six months.  It truly was such a delight to be able to photograph her again.  

When I photograph children in my Long Beach studio, I always take a minimalist approach.  Children are a beautiful work of art and they don't need much to enhance that beauty, which is why I create sets that are uncluttered and allow the focus to instead fall on the natural beauty of the children.  When mom requested a clean and classic aesthetic for her daughter's birthday photos, I knew exactly how to design her set. I love the look of florals for first birthday photos.  When used subtlety, they create a timeless and feminine backdrop for first birthday photos.  After mom sent me the photos of the outfits she had selected for Miss L's session, I chose a color palette that would highlight those outfits and would not detract from the beautiful birthday girl.  

Miss L was all smiles during her session and I had so much fun with her.  when it was time to smash that birthday cake, she couldn't get enough of the beautiful white fluffy icing and I can't say that I blame her.  I love that I was able to get beautiful timeless portraits of Miss L and also fun photos of the cake smash portion of her first birthday session.  Here are a few of my favorite images from the session.
